Commission launches three Horizon Prizes for energy innovation

The European Commission has founded three Horizon Prizes to encourage innovation and find solutions to challenges in the area of energy. These prizes will contribute to the objectives of both the Energy Union and the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan, to be given for innovative approaches to integrating solar energy into historical buildings, using renewable energy in hospitals, and developing products that help cut emissions by reusing carbon dioxide. Horizon Prizes are so called inducement prizes which offer a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge.
